From "Programme Sport-École" ...

In 2003, a young man, helped by a few friends from Montréal-Nord, decided to set up the “Sport-School Program”, which offers free and non-discriminatory extracurricular activities for young people aged 6 to 16, aim to develop their individual and collective skills and thus improve their quality of life. Located in a very multicultural district, the friction between the different cultures is numerous, with them, the cases of discrimination with regard to the color of the skin, the religion, the nationality, the physical limitations, etc.

With the program set up, the group of friends decided :

  • support the community by providing guidance to youth aged 6-16, training and information workshops, education and support for low-educated adults or drop-in ;
  • promote multiculturalism and combat all forms of discrimination, including “racism” ;
  • promote the social integration of young people with disabilities through sports activities ;
  • encourage entrepreneurship and the creation of individual businesses ;

Its dynamic and multicultural board of directors is composed of 7 people. The latter delegated the daily management of the operations to Mr. Oscar Elimby, who is also the founder of the organization. The general management is supported by a permanent group consisting of an activity planner, volunteer teachers and parents.
